It has been de facto dropped as no one is working on it. It was recently
removed from the current CVS branch (you can still get it back by reverting
to an older version).

Basically what was happening is that as time went by and APIs changed,
the KDE work would become broken. Then someone would come and do enough
work to get it compiling again, but no one was adding functionality.

There is a lot of functionality that needs to be added. In particular,
the register needs to be implemented and that's a lot of work. It could
still be done, of course, but nobody is working on it ATM.

I'm not sure how much value there is in doing a kde port. The
impression I get is that Gnome and KDE are gradually becoming more
interoperable, maybe even to the point of one day being able to use
each other's components directly.
