financial calculator question

I went through the  financial calculator code in Gnucash and i think the computation for the
 Julain day is not giving accurate results .
your code .
 
yr = y +( m - 3.0)/ 12.0 ;
ljdn = (367.0*yr+pfac)-(2*yr)+(yr/4.0)+d+1721117
 
but after auditing the results is does not give the right Day.
 
i think this one is giving the exact day 

 
yr = y +( m - 1.89)/ 12.0 ;
ljdn = (367.0*yr+pfac)-(2*yr)+(yr/4.0)+d+1721117
 
I'm not being able to tell the reason for using the 1.89 factor .. could anyone explain why ?
