Removal of ltmain.sh

I also agree.  I welcome Christian's effort to clean up the build
system *in the g2 branch*.  Breaking the build and then fixing it is
better than living with a quirky build system.  So, is anybody willing
to fix this the "right way"?  I'm willing to test.  :)
