Is the gettext warning obsolete?

*** of crap at you and ask you to acknowledge it.  If it does this,
*** just hit return to acknowledge gettext.  You DO NOT need to do
*** anything that it asks of you except hitting return.


On my machine, there's no crap spewed and no acknowledgement requested.

Is this warning obsolete, or are there machines out there where the
warning is warranted?
