No.  Install GnuCash through Ubuntu's package manager ... aptitude or
synaptic or whatever it is (I'm not an Ubuntu user, myself).

Depending on which version of 'buntu you're using, different versions might
be available: <http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?searchon=names&version=all&exact=1&keywords=gnucash>.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that 2.2 is available on any of them, yet. :/
