Is this at all related to:

Unfortunately this seems to be an issue between GnomePrint/GtkPrint and
the Windows printer drivers.  It happens to some people but not everyone.
The workaround is to print to PDF using the GnuCash "Print to PDF"
option (instead of a windows PDF printer).  Then you should be able
to print from the PDF using acroread.
