Take a look at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=589954 and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=611347 . They may be the same issue, just manifesting differently on different backends. ISTM that they're a big enough problem that we should get them fixed before 2.4.0.
