OTOH distutils has been deprecated for years and the jhbuild maintainers have been ignoring the problem. They still are: <a href="https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/jhbuild/-/issues/291">https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/jhbuild/-/issues/291</a>. Anyway, it looks like Mingw64 has provided a workaround called ming-w64-python-distutils-extra (<a href="https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/tree/master/mingw-w64-python-distutils-extra">https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/tree/master/mingw-w64-python-distutils-extra</a>).
