Hi,

I /finally/ got around to reworking this patch and I just
applied it as r13411 in SVN.  It should be in 1.9.2.  Sorry
it took so long to get to it.  Thanks for the core work here.
I did wind up redoing most of it, but I took the core ideas
from your patch.
