Gnucash ERROR message

I've just compiled from source Guppi -0.35.5 and gnucash-1.6.0 on a freshly
installed partition using Slackware-current.

The install was done under /opt/gnome and didn't produce any error messages,
but when I run gnucash i get the following ...

[me@spock me]$ gnucash
ERROR: In procedure dynamic-link:
ERROR: file not found
[me@spock me]$ 

Would appreciate any help to find the problem, I've recently installed 
gnucash-1.6.0 from source on a similar system successfully. But I must
have done something different this time.
