Reconciliation

One persistant problem I'm running into is that when I reconcile, the
beginning balance is off, and there seems to be no way to correct it. I'm
not sure of the proper procedure to follow if it is not what the bank
statement says.

The problem may be related to the fact that I imported qif from Mac
quicken, which with some of my accounts contains nearly 10 years of data.
I have 3 checking accounts so I have 3 .gnucash files ranging from 145K to
526K in size. I'm using 1.4.12 gnucash on linux 7.0 (but will be switching
to more recent gnucash on 7.2 as I get all my systems rebuilt.
