Duplicates in a QIF import are pain-inducing

Hi,

I'm trying to import a QIF file for which there are a lot of duplicates.
WHen I get to the dialog to flag duplicates, there are a few things that
make it almost impossible to work. Here they are:

- I can't sort columns according to date or description
- When I select a transaction to mark as a duplicate, gc doesn't seem to
try to match the date or the description or the amount of the
transaction. It still fills up the column on the right with "possible
duplicates". What's the algorithm for this?
- I know that between certain dates, there can be no duplicates. If I
could sort according to dates, that would help me a bit. But what I
would really like is for gc not to import transactions outside of
certain dates (i.e. I only want to import transactions between Mar 1
  and July 1.

Is there something I'm not understanding which makes me see this as a
really difficult task?

If it helps any, I'm using the CVS version.

Thanks,

L
