I get this.
[ray at localhost ray]$ rpm -qa |grep -i libtool
libtool-1.4.2-9mdk
I also found libtool in /usr/bin/libtool and /usr
/share/libtool
I just downloaded and installed the newest libtool-1.4.3 and it installed
okay.
Still gnucash is looking for that file.

What do you get from:
rpm -qa | grep -i libtool
This sounds like you do not have the libtool or libtool-devel RPM
installed. whereis is not going to help you.
