Removing old account

I have several CD's and sometimes when they roll over, I cash them out.
Once they are cashed out, the account is no longer useful. Is there a
way to remove an account after its usefulness have expired? 'Delete
Account' wants to remove all references to that account. Alternatively,
is there a better way to deal with CDs?
