mail merge with postgresql data

I want to do a mail-merge with info from the accounts in Open Office.

Firstly, is this feasible - if so, why not?

Secondly, open office does not support Postgresql, but does support
ODBC, JDBC, MySQL and several others. How might I best open the data
file in OOo?
