Have you read the list archives? I'm no expert in with this topic, but I have 
seen several answers on this topic over the last couple months. One such 
answer is that you have to enable fink unstable (if I remember correctly). 
Read and ye shall find.

Be careful when mentioning migrating to other software (especially Quicken and 
MS Money). Some developers are sensitive to any thoughts that sound like "if 
you can't get this to work, I'm going to switch to [brand X software]." 

Rest assured that GnuCash does work on OSX, but you may need some guidance 
from those that have been there before you.
