There is currently a problem with Debian unstable and gnucash, related to
libltdl3 - it's all in the gnucash archives and debian bug tracking system.
Until it's fixed, Debian users need to downgrade libltdl3 to v1.5-1 with:
# apt-get install libltdl3=1.5-1
before gnucash can run.
If you're using apt on Mac OSX, it's likely that apt will use the same package
database and may install 1.5-4 which doesn't work with gnucash. The 1.6
release of libltdl3 does work but is still experimental.
