strange mix of fonts used in columns of numbers?

Not that this helps you fix this, but 5+ years ago, mozilla
and X had a problem that looks similar to this one.  I googled
"mozilla text looks bad font" and found some discussions commenting
on the problem.

The GUI has gone through some big changes lately...

What fonts do you have on your system?  Can you tell what font gnucash is using?
