I ran into something like this when I upgraded my wife's machine from 
edgy to gutsy.  I moved her .gnucash directory to another partition and 
restarted gnucash, which created a new .gnucash directory.  I then 
copied saved-reports-2.0 and stylesheets-2.0 to the new one, and all is 
well.
