Derek,

Thanks for your reply. The file is UTF-8. I'm pretty sure of this
because when I select "UTF-8" when opening the file in open office,
the chars show up correctly. Also, if opening the file in gedit, then
selecting "save as", the current locale shows up as UTF-8.
