Alternatively you can edit the URL so that you don't connect securely.
So when you click this link:

https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user

Go up to the URL bar and remove the first "s" so that it reads:

http://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user

and Firefox will connect with no complaints.
