reconcile window too long under ubuntu netbook remix on asus eeepc 900

I am running gnucash 2.2.9 on an Asus eeepc 900 running ubuntu netbook remix.
I just tried to reconcile an account for the first time on this
machine, and the reconcile window is too long for my screen.
I tried resizing it, but can only change the width, not the height of
the window. As it is, I cannot see the part of the window that has the
reconciled totals and the buttons.
Any ideas on what I can do to force a resize on this window?
