Unable to open gnucash-2.2.9 even after compiling

Hi,
I am using gnucash-2.2.4 from ubuntu, recently I have compiled and
installed 2.2.9, however, during the installation following messages
came (last few lines):
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/aikhan/gnucash-2.2.9'
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'.
test -z "/usr/local/share/gnucash/doc" || /bin/mkdir -p
"/usr/local/share/gnucash/doc"

Permission denied

make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/aikhan/gnucash-2.2.9'

make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/aikhan/gnucash-2.2.9'

Now, when I try to start gnucash-2.2.9 in a terminal, the original
gnucash-2.2.4 starts,while simultaneously following message comes:

gnc.bin-Message: main: binreloc relocation support was disabled at
configure time.
Found Finance::Quote version 1.13

How to start the 2.2.9 version under gnome? Please help.
