I did all the standard recovery steps and nothing worked. I know the 
file itself is not corrupt and all the data can be recovered in 
text/xml format. It appears that my Linux Distro version of gnucash 
or something gnucash is dependent on was updated and that seems to 
be the problem. I told them about it and they are working on it 
right now. I hope to be back in business later.
