I still maintian that this is a gconf not gnucash problem (although such a 
distinction in a MS setting may not seem clear).  maybe win permissions are a 
factor, but if GC isn't remembering settings/prefs properly then that is a 
classic pointer to gconf failing in some way.

I can't help with the windows permissions and surrounding admin/user issues, 
but I suggest that you delete any $HOME/.gconf* files &/| folders that may 
exist and see if the next instances of GC behave better.
