Gnucash menubar

Funny that Karl mentioned his 'problem' with Ubuntu because I just
subscribed to the GnuCash list because I need help, too.

GnuCash 2.4.2. Ubuntu Natty 11.04

I just cannot change the date of the transaction. Gnucah will always
change it to the todays one.

Could you please help me with it? I use both Ubuntu and GnuCash in Czech
language - I do not know if this might cause problems.
