Gnucash thinks data file is read-only, how to open it for writing?

That wasn't clear. I didn't know which option would open the file for
writing (it appeared that none of them would do that), so closed the
program to try to clear the lock. After that, the message no longer
appeared.

If “Open anyway” is going to steal the lock, perhaps that should instead
say “Break lock and open anyway” or similar.
