Want to use both a mac and a windows machine for the same data file

I have my data file in dropbox too but I have to open it each time and I can't get it to open in the mac version. Is there a way to make the most recently used data file open automatically upon launch? That would be handy!

I use GnuCash on Linux and a Mac. The data file directory is in Dropbox, so it just moves back and forth by itself and stays in sync.
