If you use the standard software updater that will automatically give
you the new version if it is uploaded to getteb.  It is only because
you added a new repository that you had to do things manually.
Whenever one adds a new repository the procedure to use is
sudo apt-add-repository <name>
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
or if using the newer apt one (from ubuntu 14.04 I think) one can use
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
