Writing checks in Gnucash?

   I very seldom write checks by hand for my business. I've used both
   Quicken and Quickbooks to write checks. They both have a "write checks"
   function. In Gnucash, I see a "print checks" function but not a "write
   checks" function. In the Quicken print checks function, it will pick up
   and print any unprinted check. Will Gnucash do this? If so, how do I
   get there?
   Also, does Gnucash have a function to automatically fill in the number
   of the checks printed or would I have to number each check
   individually?
