GL and reports ignoring transaction

I have a problem that is new to me in that I've not experienced it before
despite entering many transactions.

I have three transactions entered in 2015 (1/7/2016, 1/31/2016, and
2/11/2016) and of those three, the one dated 1/7/2016 does not show up in
the general ledger or the register/transaction reports.  I've confirmed my
start/end dates for the register/transaction reports are correctly set at
1/1/2016 thru today.  I know the transaction is in the system because when
I go to the Accounts tab and click on the accounts in which the transaction
hits (a payable and an expense), it shows that side of the entry.  Both the
general ledger and the register/transaction reports show the other two
transactions (1/31/2016 and 2/11/2016).

I've tried deleting and re-entering the 1/7/2016 transaction multiple times
now, making sure to save each time.  I've also tried existing out of the
program and re-opening.

So, two questions.  1 - Why is this occurring? and 2 - How do I get the
transaction to show up in the general ledger and register/transaction
reports?
