If removing a feature doesn't really save a bunch of coding time and the
feature still works I'd vote to keep it.  As I said I haven't used this
feature but in writing software for more years than I care to think
about rarely has anyone complained about too many features :<)  I've
also seen the storm of complaints when features go away!  I'm sure their
are clever users that may not read this list that have done something
clever with something as powerful as regex so...  That's my $.02 worth :<)
