Reports for specific periods of time

Usually one sets "accounting period" for the fiscal year you use once 
(and don't keep changing it) and then use option settings to set the 
date ranges for any reports on a report by report basis. If for no other 
purpose to do it that way, it means you have to be conscious of the date 
range required for THAT report. If you do it by continuously changing 
the global "accounting period" you might forget and be puzzled by the 
results of some report.

I don't understand what you are asking. You are looking at an account 
and only want to see certain transactions? Scattered transactions? If I 
needed to do that I would probably produce a report for that account 
(for a date range that would include all the transactions wanted), 
export that report, and then using an editing application with strong 
"find" capabilities to identify the ones you wanted and deleting the 
rest. It all depends on what basis this "select" is to work (how do you 
plan to identify the ones that you want?)
