Your mail to me in private almost got lost in the huge amount of mail to
process... Please make sure to keep the conversations on the mailing
list. That one person you reply to may not have all the answers nor the
time to reply immediately. You have more chances for a complete answer
by keeping the conversation on the list.

You can do so by using the "Reply to all" or "Reply to list" features of
your mail program.

It won't list it as a zip file because of the file extension (.gnucash).
However the gnucash data file is technically an xml file that can be
either zipped or not depending on the preferences in gnucash. Both
variants use the same file extension because there is no functional
difference for the end user.

That is due to how Windows works. It hides file name extensions by
default for known file types.

As long as the extension is hidden you won't be able to change the data
type as Windows will see datafile.zip.gnucash internally as file name
where you really want it to become datafile.gnucash.zip.

You can (temporarily) disable this behavior for the folder containing
the gnucash data file by opening that folder's "Map and Search options"
(I don't know the exact words in English, my test system is in Dutch) in
the "Organize" menu.
Then go to the second tab and untick the option "Hide extension of known
filetypes" or similar.

Now you should be able to alter the data type of your gnucash data file.

And remember to restore the option if you want file names to be hidden
again.

Geert
