https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Building includes a section on Ubuntu,
but I don't know whether it is up to date or not.  To get all the
runtime dependencies I suggest installing the one in the Ubuntu
repository first. Then build the latest in your home directory and run
it from there.
