Great thank you Derek!

I thought I'd have to do it manually but I wanted to double check before I got started. Now I can start my bookkeeping. This was very helpful.

Have a great day,

Melissa

Hi,

Alas, the Tax Tables do not work for manual transaction entry, nor for
transaction import. They are dedicated to Invoices and Bills, which is
probably too much effort for your every-day transactions.

HOWEVER, the register can do math! If you type in a math equation the
register will compute it for you. So you can type into a cell in the
register something like: 81.23*.055 and it will compute 4.47 for
you. You can leverage this to compute your tax splits.

So what I would do is open e.g. your Credit Card account, then enter in
your description, put in one of the accounts (e.g. Expenses:Groceries)
in the transfer, then the total amount in the correct column. Then
click the "Split" button, and then you can start filling in splits using
the math method to compute the taxes. Each line just put in the correct
account and amount, and be sure to erase or overwrite the leftover
because if you leave it in there then gnucash will combine them.

Be sure not to hit "Enter" until you're completely done. Use the tab
and/or arrow keys to move around.

Enjoy!
