Business check formatting

Rich,

Hope this helps. I’ve attached what I currently use for business cheques, the resulting cheque, and the line from the register that produces it. No reason to believe that the locations of anything will match for you.
It has been years since I set this up, so I’m going mostly from memory.

-It does have blocking characters on the numbers, as you want.

-The date appears only once, as it should - and in the right location for the cheques I use. I don’t know how to change the date format if you don’t want that format, as it’s been years since I played with it.

-On the splits: the account from which the cheque is printed is Assets:Current Assets:Chequing Account. Every other line in the split - in this case only the one with the comment saying "Invoice number 6646” appears on both of the tear-off stubs, which for this format are found beneath the cheque itself. If there is more than one such line, the bottom one appears at the specified coordinates, and the others are successively further up. I have one format I call “business” and it has the memo line low enough that three or four split lines can appear without overflowing across the perforations onto the cheque itself. The other I use for payroll and it has room for all the deductions, the gross pay, and the net pay.

The easiest way to get the location right is to turn on the grid - its an option on the cheque format itself. You turn it on, and then tweak the locations until it’s right, and then turn it off.
