The next part is to compile the missing packages. I gave it a try and
bumped into a problem with cygwin gcc 3.3.1 (the configure uses the
-fnative-struct option, which is deprecated and replaced by
-mms-bitfields). I did not investigate further, probably my next step would
be to downgrade gcc to a version providing -fnative-struct.
I'm interested in any progress you achieve.
