18:45:01 <gnucash_user> Hello. I have a question regarding invoices. When I get the money of an invoice, i import the data from a mt940 file from my bank. i can then choose my invoice account to book the transfer, but it doesn't mark the invoice as "paid". How can i mark an invoice as "paid" without creating a new transaction? Is this possible?
18:53:49 *** Zoolooc_ has quit IRC
18:55:59 <warlord> No.
18:56:06 <warlord> The only way to pay an invoice is via Process Payment.
18:56:16 <warlord> You MUST use that interface.
18:56:23 <warlord> Sorry.

19:50:14 <Jaggy-> can gnucash take my cc interest and calculate my finance charges automatically?
19:50:27 <Jaggy-> I'm trying to take a bunch of CC's and determine the best payment method to pay them off

19:55:52 <nbinont> jaggy: just a general piece of advice - if you're carrying significant balances on credit cards, you should really look into consolidating the debt to a line of credit (usually half the interest rate) or a bank loan (much less, yet again)
19:58:08 <Jaggy-> thanks.. we tend to transfer the debt to those 1.99% apr card offers, esp. those for the life of the balance (then we don't use the card) .. I haven't seen lower interest loans available
19:58:28 <Jaggy-> but I don't know much about it at all.. is there such a low loan available otherwise?
19:58:31 <nbinont> ah, clever
20:00:07 <nbinont> no, you're not likely to find a loan with that low of an interest rate

20:06:47 <jsled> Jaggy-: if you really want to compare the interest rates on a bunch of cards, why not plug it into a spreadsheet?
20:11:50 *** nbinont has quit IRC
20:13:51 <Jaggy-> good idea :)
20:13:52 <Jaggy-> thanks
20:14:00 <Jaggy-> I'm thinking.. perl script..
20:14:21 <Jaggy-> but.. that's why I joined! :)
20:14:27 <Jaggy-> how are you jsled?
20:14:45 <jsled> I'd guess that'd work too. Spreadsheet's kinda design for such processing.
20:15:00 <jsled> I'm fine Jaggy-; how are you?
20:15:09 <Jaggy-> oh.. no.. I WAS thinking perl script.. it's the wrong approach
20:15:19 <jsled> Ah. heh.
20:15:42 <Jaggy-> I'm okay.. heavy workload.. billion things to handle

23:27:02 <dbreiser> seb: start gncash with 'gnucash --nofile' and then use the File menu to open the data file.
23:28:19 <dbreiser> either gnucash didn't release the datafile lock last time you quit, or something else is trying to put up a dialog while the splash screen is preventing it from being drawn
23:43:13 <seb> thanks a lot
23:43:34 <seb> i have just launched a recompile of the app
23:43:43 <seb> i'll try that as soon as it is ready
23:46:46 <seb> I am trying /sw/bin/gnucash--nofile
23:47:13 <seb> and it does not work... what is the correct format?
23:47:50 <seb> got it :)
23:47:59 <seb> space before --
23:48:45 <seb> YES IT WORKS !!!
23:48:54 <seb> THANK YOU SO MUCH DBREISER

23:49:40 <dbreiser> you're welcome. That's supposed to be fixed. I haven't been able to reproduce it everytime.
23:51:06 <warlord> oh, is this that gtk bug?
