13:42:01 <Graem> Hi. I'm running gnucash on windows Vista and I'm having problems setting up the online banking. After enter all the information for my bank account aqbanking crashes and shows a dialog that says I need to download QT and adjust the PATH variable. I've downloaded QT, but I don't know what it means by adjusting the path variable. Can anyone help me?
13:50:26 <warlord> it crashed?
13:53:47 <warlord> As for adjusting the PATH variable, it means changing your windows environment. I suspect there's some .ini file somewhere you can modify, but I'm not a windows user so I don't know

16:16:32 <Chris> will the dutch banks ever be supported for online banking in gnucash??
16:24:47 <jsled> What protocols do the dutch banks use?
16:25:07 <jsled> I don't know that I've heard anyone talk about adding that support, but it could be in a forum that I don't follow.
16:30:09 <Chris> the problem here in the netherlands is that every bank use a different protocol, but ALL banks do support http
16:30:27 <Chris> (with secure logons ofcourse)
16:30:36 <jsled> Oh, like for web-based access
16:30:36 <jsled> ?
16:30:42 <Chris> indeed
16:31:02 <jsled> None of the online banking does screen scraping or HTML-based REST interaction.
16:31:16 <jsled> Which would be a fucking nightmare to implement, let alone support.
16:31:27 <Chris> to bad then.....
16:32:34 <jsled> It's actaully a good idea, since – you're right – most every bank has web-based access.
16:32:53 <Chris> indeed.
16:33:18 <jsled> But the web is just not setup for that kind of programatic access, these days.
16:33:34 <Chris> no problem. just was wondering....
16:33:36 <Chris> but i just found out 1 more problem. gnu-cash can't import my downloaded files from the webinterface of my dutch bank.
16:33:51 <Chris> (all three formats aren't supported
16:33:51 <jsled> what format are those downloaded files?
16:34:25 <Chris> ascii and comma seperated
16:34:33 <Chris> and a special format i don't know
16:34:42 <Chris> so i have three types.
16:34:57 <jsled> What's the name of the "special" format?
16:35:07 <Chris> ERI / MUT.ASC
16:35:14 <jsled> huh.
16:35:41 <jsled> There's most of a CSV importer from last year's Summer of Code, but it hasn't really seen the light of day. :(
16:36:03 <jsled> You might be able to conver the CSV to QIF, which is importable.
16:36:10 *** Pepe66 has quit IRC
16:36:11 <warlord> the CSV importer is in trunk
16:36:14 <warlord> it has ... problems.
16:36:31 <Chris> in that case i will look into the conversion of csv to qif. thx so far

16:36:43 <Chris> (be back in about 10 mins. have to go to the toilet)
16:36:47 <Chris> thx mate :D

19:46:38 <foo> hm, any devs have gmail?
19:47:05 <foo> There is an issue between gmail and preview on os x reading certain PDFs, and the ones gnucash seems to be one of them. I have no idea what it is, but I'd like to confirm someone else is seeing this too

22:15:26 <dbreiser> foo: I think the pdf problem with gnucash on os x is a gnomeprint problem (or maybe a gtk+ problem). it goes away with recent gnome parts.
22:15:58 <dbreiser> Upgrades are coming soon to fink, probably already available from macports

23:48:17 <foo> dbreiser: I just installed adobe acrobat and it worked
23:54:20 <dbreiser> foo: good to hear. Preview will work better with newer gnome, too, though. (I've tested)
23:58:46 <foo> dbreiser: hm, newer gnome? you can upgrade gnome on the mac?
23:58:53 <foo> this was in os x, nothing special, just viewing a pdf with preview
23:59:49 <dbreiser> foo: depends on where you're starting, but one can always build newer versions of open source stuff. I start from fink, but I've got a bunch of newer stuff built
