01:30:01 <ubuntum> Hi, I am trying to print an invoice at the moment but it is printing the invoice very tiny in a gigantic page
01:30:01 <gncbot> ubuntum: Sent 1 week, 0 days, and 17 hours ago: <warlord> yes, you must unpost the Invoice in order to edit the transaction. (A/R accounts are designed to work with the biz features and cannot be used by hand)
01:30:14 <ubuntum> I am under windows using 2.3.8

10:45:51 <Svetoslav> is there a way to create a "lot account" in some of the current versions ?
10:52:29 <warlord> What do you mean "lot account"?
10:53:51 <Svetoslav> I mean lots account, account where you can create lots in
10:54:23 <warlord> ??? You can create Lots in any account.
10:54:42 <warlord> But generally they only make sense in Asset and Liability type accounts.
10:55:14 <Svetoslav> Yeah, now I saw there is an option New lot :)
10:55:16 <Svetoslav> thanks
10:56:04 <warlord> Note that Lot support is not 100% complete...
10:56:13 <warlord> Some of the auto-lot-conversion isn't there.
10:56:30 <Svetoslav> I see
11:00:05 <warlord> Lots were originally designed for Stocks and auto-computation of cap gains.. But that code isn't there.
11:01:53 <Svetoslav> hm, in 2.2.9 there isn't an option "new lot" :|
11:01:58 <Svetoslav> only in 2.3.8 ?
11:02:26 <Svetoslav> left on the button "scrub account"
11:11:23 <warlord> Right
11:11:28 <warlord> Lots aren't complete
11:11:31 <warlord> Why do you want Lots?
11:12:33 <Svetoslav> I'm actually not an accountant, I'm searching a suitable program for my mother to work with, and she says she needs lots :)
11:12:51 <Svetoslav> she said it's she wants to make reports "by lots"
11:12:58 <Svetoslav> not only by account
11:14:23 <warlord> There's no reporting by lots
11:15:00 <Svetoslav> I see
11:16:56 <warlord> Not that reports couldn't be written to report by lots, but none of the existing reports do.
11:17:15 <Svetoslav> maybe there will be in the future
11:17:18 <warlord> What exactly is she looking for with "lot support"? What EXACTLY does she expect lots to give her?
11:17:26 <warlord> Svetoslav: sure, if you (or someone else) writes it.
11:17:35 <Svetoslav> :)
11:22:50 *** fDavid has quit IRC
11:23:12 <Svetoslav> ok one of the things she wants is different types of expenses for each supplier, for each resource
11:24:46 <warlord> I'm not sure what you mean by "for each resource", but you can use different Expense accounts to record the "different types of expenses"
11:29:05 <Svetoslav> yeah but if I have two groups of accounts in expenses, I won't be able to make report by group, will I ?
11:29:43 <warlord> I dont understand what you mean by "two groups of accounts"
11:29:48 <Svetoslav> to get the balance of each group
11:30:52 <Svetoslav> well group - expenses for materials, and second - expenses for services
11:31:04 *** ubuntum has quit IRC
11:31:43 <warlord> I dont understand how you could have the same Expense type for both materials and services?
11:31:47 <Svetoslav> expenses for materials is devided into different materials (lots) -
11:32:09 <warlord> e.g., Expenses:Utitilities:Internet v. Expenses:Tools:Hammer ?
11:33:27 <warlord> I dont think you're using "lots" in the way GnuCash means "lots". A "lot" in GnuCash parlance is when you have multiple items (e.g. multiple stock shares) that you buy at one price at one time and you want to keep track of them as you sell them separately at different prices

17:22:40 <Parker> Hi everyone.
17:23:02 <Parker> How can I start gnucash in a different language?
17:23:27 <Parker> running on ubuntu 9.10, with default gnucash install
17:23:53 <jsled> http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_I_want_to_use_GnuCash_in_my_own_language
17:28:35 <Parker> Thanks for the link to the FAQ. I don't want to change my system's default language, just run gnucash in a different language. I tried $ LANG=fr_FR gnucash but that didn't work.
17:29:04 <jsled> did you try LANGUAGE as wel?
17:29:59 <warlord> do you have the fr_FR locale installed on your system?
17:30:25 <Parker> Do you mean the LANG environment variable?
17:30:55 <Parker> Not sure about the locale already being installed.
17:31:00 <jsled> try `locale -a`
17:31:22 <Parker> $ env | grep LANG
17:31:24 <Parker> LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
17:31:26 <Parker> GDM_LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
17:32:00 <Parker> locale -a gives a long list, but not the langs I wanted.
17:32:11 <warlord> then you dont have the langs installed.
17:32:12 <Parker> I guess I'm missing some locales
17:32:15 <warlord> You'll need to fix that.
17:34:12 <Parker> Thanks for the tip. Installing now....
17:34:48 <warlord> enjoy

17:57:58 <Parker> I installed relevant locales and it worked fine. Thank you warlord and jsled. I am planning on creating a new txf.scm file for the french tax system. There is already one for the German tax system /usr/share/gnucash/scm/txf-de_DE.scm but none for the french as far as I know.
17:58:47 <warlord> Umm.. it's more work than just a new txf.scm... You should send mail to -devel before you start so you can talk to Christian about it... He's been thinking about how best to do that.
17:59:28 <Parker> Oh. I saw the german one and thought - looks easy.
18:00:33 <Parker> Will mail -devel
