[gnucash-de] Gnucash 3.8 running with Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, resizing windows in Gnucash is limited or impossible and window does not fit on 15" laptop monitor

Dear all,

after having moved from Ubuntu 18.04 with the automatic Ubuntu update to
20.04.1 LTS also Gnucash has been updated to Version 3.8b (from Gnucash
2.6.19, I guess?).

Now I have problems with the window width of Gnucash 3.8 on my small 15"
laptop monitor, because the window is too wide for the monitor and it is
neither possible to narrow the window permanent into the physical size
of the monitor, nor to "maximize" it for the monitor with the button in
the top right corner of the window, because this button is missing. All
trials to resizing the window manually by narrowing columns in Gnucash
do not work properly and each time I open a new window or restart
Gnucash I have the problem again.

The former version (2.6.19?) of Gnucash was running fine and I was happy
to have such a good software.
Now I am frustrated about Gnucash 3.8.

Can you help me to solve this problem?
In answering my question please note, that I am neither an Ubuntu
specialist nor a Gnucash specialist, I am just a user with negligible
knowledge of software.

Best regards

Thomas
