compilation problems

Thanks for the followup. The guile version I installed is 1.3, from
source. As for the bleeding edge issue, if my efforts are proving at all
helpful to the furthering of the software, then great. I was really mostly
curious about the package (I still use sc for most of my spreadsheet and
personal financial needs, which has worked fine for about 10 years), but
every once in a while look to see if I should consider changing...
