Non-check transaction numbers

  What is the recommended method of assigning non-check transaction numbers
to, for example, debit card withdrawals from a checking account? Other
software I've used in the past (in my DOS days), allowed a suffix of A-E to
be assigned to each check number.

  How do we do this in gnucash?
