More GUID problems on reload?

Or is this something completely different?

Trying to get more information for Dave on another problem, I decided to
cycle the file I was currently viewing. On the first attempt, I get
heaps of the messages below, stack-frame dump, and a dialog saying that
"The filename blah is not a valid location on the filesystem", followed
(when I click on OK) with another dialog "An error occurred during file
IO". This brings me back to an empty main window. Attempting to load the
file again gets me more of the messages and a stack frame dump, and a
segfault (stack overrun or something perhaps?).
This happens even if I (successfully) load a different file between the
two attempts.

One other detail that might be relevant is that this is my large (1.5M)
datafile with 12 months worth of transaction in it.

Still didn't identify the other problems.
