Using goops in 1.7 code . . .

I'm in the process of coding up a new businessy-type report
for the 1.7 tree (basically, accounts payable by creditor), 
and it occurred to me that I might want to use goops for
some of the data-collection stuff.

What's the word guys?  Is goops officially OK to use in the 1.7
tree or not?
