thanks for asking. Indeed I am working on html-utilities.scm, 
or at least I wrote the whole file so far. However, for the things you 
asked my concerns would rather be whether I agree with your ideas or not 
(instead of "only" code conflicts).

Now this will definitely not get my approval. Simply "remove" the other 
lines is not at all what will solve any problem here -- those lines are 
there for a reason. 

I admit that different user situations require different report 
structures. In my case those "excess lines" make perfectly sense -- the 
only "foreign currencies" that I have are in fact foreign currencies, and 
it is nice to see the balances in the right currency... whatever. What I 
am trying to say is: For users like me those lines make perfectly sense. 
Therefore *do not* remove those lines.

However, you are always free to add new options for another viewing mode.

But for stocks in general I have still some homework to do. Since I don't 
own any stocks, I didn't think about their viewing mode yet. But Herbert 
Thoma has provided me with a demo gnucash file, and (as I posted to the ML 
~2 weeks ago) I will work on that, but I'm pretty busy right now. I might 
work on that later this weekend, but I'm not sure about that.

If I understand you correctly, then why don't you simply deactivate the 
"Show other Currencies/Shares of Stock" checkbox? That makes all your 
"excess" lines disappear. If that's not what you want, could you explain 
it to me in more detail please?
