Yes, that's bothering me, too. Will be changed as soon as I need those 
reports again :-) which is probably this week.

I agree with you: We should treat stock accounts differently than currency 
accounts. The view that you want to see is already implemented, though in 
a different context in mind: de-activate "Include sub-accounts balances" 
on the Accounts tab, and activate "Show foreign currencies" on the General 
tab. (In this combination, there will be no total sum calculated, 
though... but it shows the viewing mode.) You can go ahead and implement 
this behaviour as a default for any account of type "stock".

The amounts are values of type gnc-monetary. Would it be possible to 
implement this kind of special rendering into the gnc-monetary-renderer? 
(in gnc:default-html-gnc-monetary-renderer, html-style-info.scm).
