I got similar error which kept me from using CVS gnucash for several months. 
This seemed to be a g-wrap problem, i.e. I have both g-wrap 1.3.x (for HEAD) 
and 1.2.x (for gnucash-1.6) installed. And as long as the HEAD compilation 
process sometimes got the wrong g-wrap or pieces of it, this error will 
result. My final solution was yet another installation of 1.3.x g-wrap in a 
totally different prefix and using that at --with-gwrap-prefix for HEAD 
compilation.
