No.

I don't see why this _would_ be wonderful.  It would require adding 
interfacing for another DBMS, and would require independently developing 
application code in PHP that already exists in GnuCash.

As near as I can tell, this would essentially amount to developing a 
completely independent application that _might_ have vaguely similar database 
schema.  Only vaguely, because MySQL only implements a weak subset of SQL.

If you want to build a web-based financial application using PHP and MySQL, 
why not download NOLA?  It's already implemented.
